Chris Reeve Large Inkosi Natural Micarta Inlay Folding Knife
Chris Reeve Large Inkosi Natural Micarta Inlay Folding Knife
The Large Inkosi folding knife launched in June 2016 as the successor to the Sebenza 25 knife model. Inkosi means "The Chief" in Zulu and puts all of the best CRK technology into a large folding knife with a 3.625-inch blade. The large Inkosi is a full sized folding knife that will comfortably transition from everyday carry to field carry with a blade length that can handle most cutting tasks. This knife builds upon the innovations in the Sebenza 25 such as the famed Integral Lock system while pushing important attributes such as blade strength and lock tolerances. Its size is ideal for those who need more from their folding knife in tough environments, as wells those whose hands are too large for the small Inkosi. Each Inkosi folder is made in Boise, Idaho with the maker's worldwide reputation for premium design and performance.
The Inkosi features a drop point blade with a tumbled finish that is deployed using ambidextrous dual titanium thumb lugs. Drop point knives are strong yet controllable with a large belly for their size. Front and center on this knife, the American-made blade steel is MagnaCut crucible particle metal stainless steel specially designed for high-end knives. The blade is heat treated to an RC of 63-64 for outstanding edge retention that also resists corrosion. The 3.56mm blade stock has large hollow grinds, a grind that has the best of both worlds: the cutting performance of a flat grind with the strength of a hollow grind. The Inkosi has a clean stonewashed blade finish that hides scratches but provides a durable cutting finish. The top of the blade has robust jimping that gives the user a positive grip and handling.
The handle of the Reeve folder consists of two perfectly flat slabs of 6Al4V alloy titanium that are blasted a matte gray finish. They feature inlays of raised natural canvas micarta that provide the user with a thick, enhanced grip. The lock bar features the bank vault lockup that CRK is known for. A 1/8-inch ceramic ball acts as the interface between the lock bar and the blade and doubles to drop into the detent, ensuring the blade stays in place when closed. The oversized pivot bushings have larger perforations in the washers/bushings that reduce friction, store more lubricant and offer space for small dirt particles to move away from the blade/washer interface. The frame locking folding knife has a 416 heat treated stainless steel stop pin that has increased thickness and is more durable. The Large Inkosi has a robust stop pin, twin oversized phosphor bronze perforated bushings and a pocket clip that is positioned away from the lock bar.

Well... I mean... it's excellent. There's just something about a CRK that will always set them apart. This Inkosi is no different. I got this and a Hinderer 3.5 XM in the same month and figured I would keep the one I liked best (My 21s aren't going anywhere). Maybe I'll sell a kidney instead. 😆 There seem to be several dealers with these in stock, but the good folks at KnifeArt were the only ones that were willing to check a few CRK birth dates for me. Great customer service and really quick to get the Inkosi out the door and on its way to me!
